Working Principle
When water usage ceases in the downstream pipeline network, the pressure behind the piston increases. This causes the piston of the proportional pressure-reducing valve to lose equilibrium and move forward, thereby closing the valve. When no water is drawn from the downstream pipeline network, the valve remains closed, maintaining a constant pressure ratio between inlet and outlet. When a fire hydrant or sprinkler head activates downstream, the inlet pressure exceeds the outlet pressure, pushing the piston backward to open the proportional pressure-reducing valve. The downstream pipeline pressure decreases with increasing flow rate (following the flow-pressure characteristic curve) until reaching equilibrium, at which point the piston stops moving. The YB83X fixed proportional pressure reducing valve utilizes the differing cross-sectional areas at both ends of its internal floating piston to create a pressure differential. This alters the inlet and outlet pressure conditions, achieving the pressure reduction objective.
